This necklace features a beautiful handmade lampwork glass bead by US glass artist Heather Davis of Blissful Garden Beads. I was lucky enough to enter her March 2011 Challenge and was issued this bead to "play with" ;-)
I decided that the "less is more" look would be best, and kept the details small, so they wouldn't interfere with Heather's gorgeous focal bead. Picking up the colours within the focal bead, I chose over 100 4mm Swarovski pearls and crystals and hand-sewed this fringe using caramel, bronze, copper, pale gold, black, topaz, cream and clear crystals and pearls. There are more cream Swarovski pearls at each end of the fringing, and the cream organza ribbon ensures the focal is kept on the fringe and focal bead.
More Swarovski crystals frame the focal bead, along with an almond coloured Swarovski teardrop pearl.
Clasp is a decorative antique brass-look floral toggle. Wire in focal is non-tarnish bronze artistic wire.
An absolutely delightful necklace, sure to be noticed, and comfortable to wear, as the fringing detail is all pushed forward when laid against your decolletage.
