Aeval

Aeval

According to legend, among the Celts of Ireland, Aeval was the Fairy Queen of Munster. She held a midnight court to determine if husbands were satisfying their wives' sexual needs, or not, as the women charged.

Apart from making me smile and imagining the goings on of that time, this story made me think of this bracelet and the magical look and feeling it evokes :-)

I spent over 15 hours on this bracelet, sewing each bead on individually.  I used a cloudy green glass cabachon focal, with paua oval beads that I frames with Swarovski pearls in pale purple, white and midnight blue (very dark, almost purple).  I used further Swarovski crystals in purple and green shades and more Swarovski pearls (larger 6mm pearls this time) to accent the focal beads.  Once all the available space was filled, I glued black felt onto the back of the design and carefully rope-stitched the edges with peacock blue/green/purple beads, attaching a silver slide clasp for easy closure.

The cuff measures 4cm (1 3/4in) at it's widest point, and has a length of 19cm (7 1/2in).  It's length is unable to be altered.

A truly spectacular bracelet, one of my very favourite pieces, I enjoyed every single moment I spent making it :-)
