I found this beautiful picture of St Christopher (patron saint of children and travellers) and adhered it to a bamboo bead, then glazed it for dimension and gloss. I then beaded around it using tiny glass seed beads in aqua blue/green, embellishing it further by hand-sewing tiny 4mm bronze Swarovski pearls and pale minty green, aqua blue and grey/brown Swarovski crystals, before backing the entire pendant in 100% wool felt for comfort and protection.
The chain is made up of Carnelian beads interspersed at regular intervals, to subtly draw out the burnt orange highlights in the picture. The chain itself is antique-look gold plate and the clasp is a front-closing toggle clasp. The decorative cross dangling from above the clasp adds movement and interest.
A very antique-looking piece.
