This great bracelet was the result of a bead swap I participated in a couple of months ago. Since then, it's been sitting, waiting for me to photograph it "properly" (I've tried - several times - but the photo's haven't come out all that great. What can I say - I'm fussy!).
So, the object of the bead swaps are that you get to stretch yourself. And with this swap, I sure did! The theme was "rainbow" and I was sent 21 beads in all colours of the rainbow, plus a length of chain. We had to use all the beads/components we were sent, but we could add anything else we thought the design needed.
In my case, I received 21 felt beads (red, green, orange, blue, purple, lime), so I decided that I would sew them to a 100% felt base, then painstakingly needle-felt more merino wool in the colours of the rainbow, in between the beads to bring them alive. Then I attached 21 colourful 4mm Swarovski crystals (again, in rainbow colours) in between them (more hand-sewing!). Instead of using the chain in the traditional way, I hand-sewed it onto the bracelet to highlight the beads and add a whimsical quality to the piece.
To finish, I hand-sewed a 100% felt backing to the bracelet so that it protects the stitches and is soft on the wrist, and added a silver plated toggle clasp with lovely decorative design.
I'm so proud of this bracelet. It's very different to my normal style, but it's fun to wear, really comfortable and nice and warm!! Great for winter!
It's a cuff style, so it measures 4cm (1 1/2in) and it's length is currently 20cm (8in). If you need it lengthened, I can do that too (no charge) - just leave me a comment in the SPECIAL REQUESTS box at checkout :)
ONE OF A KIND! And will be beautifully gift-wrapped for you prior to sending.
