This bamboo focal bead was created using a Margaret MacDonald Mackintosh image - who, along with her husband Charles Rennie Mackintosh, was a very influential Scottish artist and designer in the 1890's and early 1900's. Both are my among my favourite artists and I have seen some of their work first-hand - it's incredible!

The image was affixed to the bamboo bead and then glazed to protect and enhance it, also adding a glossy finish.
I then hand-embroidered each and every tiny glass seed bead into this lovely pattern to frame it, using pale peach/pink, blue, black and fuschia beads, with a small rhinestone to add a touch of bling.
The bail is sterling silver plated and the chain is electroplated silver, with a lobster clasp closure. The entire back has been covered in felt to protect it and provide a comfortable feel against your skin.

Pendant size (including bail): 7.5cm x 3.5cm (being 3in x 1 1/2in).
