November 2008 - Religion - Santi Preservare Noi

November 2008 - Religion - Santi Preservare Noi
"Santi Preservare Noi" = "Saints Preserve Us"

This piece is the result of my Year of Jewellery November challenge, the theme of which was "religion".

A beautiful necklace, featuring a chain of brass (very fine belcher or rollo chain) with faceted sparkling Czech crystals and white freshwater pearls.

The pendant features a wooden cube that I have painted gold and then decoupaged colour images of saints onto it, lacquering them several times to give a glass-like finish.

There is a gorgeous pink freshwater pearl in the shape of a cross hanging from the bottom of the pendant - stunning!

The clasp is an antiqued brass toggle clasp (very easy to fasten/unfasten).

The pastel colours of the images (blue, pink, cream) are perfectly offset by the brass chain and links, giving it a very vintage feel.

Length: currently 55cm/21 1/2" but I am happy to shorten free of charge if required - just let me know in the COMMENTS box at checkout what length you would like.

Pendant(incl. cross dangle) falls 7cm/2 3/4" from base of necklace.

ONE OF A KIND, will be beautifully gift-boxed prior to sending.
