This gorgeous antique copper bracelet is just the cutest! Ideal for a friend or relative who is living abroad, or treat yourself to abit of New Zealand history!
Antiqued copper long-link chain has been interwoven with smaller antique copper chain, then attached to a gorgeous round toggle clasp. I have spent hours polishing and scrubbing some very old New Zealand and foreign coins recently, dunking them in a variety of solutions to remove the grit and grime, scrubbing and scouring them with my own two hands to make them gleam once more, then hand-drilling them. This process, although hard work, was also a pleasant one - I was holding a piece of history in my hand, and who knows where it had been or what it had seen? A child's pocket money, handed over the counter to buy sweets, perhaps? A lovely thought : )
The coin hanging from this bracelet is a 1944 New Zealand Half Penny, with the profile of King George VI proudly resplendent on the back. A wartime ha'penny :)
I have also attached a beautiful filigree copper heart charm and a white Swarovski pearl to the coin.
I really love this bracelet...it's like a little piece of history to wear on your wrist. Treasure it always...
