Ametrine is one of my favourite stones. It's a rare and alluring mix of Amethyst and Citrine (within the same stone) and this large smooth nugget is, as usual, a beautiful example.
Ametrine is only mined in Bolivia, so it's quite rare. I managed to find a great strand of these smooth nuggets and have been coseting them away selfishly, to be used sparingly :)
I've added extra sparkle by using rhinestone rondelles either side and finishing off with round Amethysts. I've used antique-look silver end caps and spacers and non tarnish silver wire (the whole pin is made completely from scratch!). These pins look fantastic with this season's wrap cardies, shawls, scarves or anything with a medium to heavy weave wool. The ends have been filed blunt so they won't damage your clothing.
A little touch of glamour :-) They make a great gift, or just treat yourself!
